Video: Top Plays of the Week // Week 12
See the amazing and spectacular from the past week.
Pardon Aledo Bearcats fans as they fight the urge to become spoiled by success. Six state championships in an eight-year span has a way of raising the expectation bar for the community on the western outskirts of Fort Worth.
In Friday night's regular season finale, Aledo goes on the road to face Boswell (Fort Worth) in a match-up of teams with 9-0 records. Both are 6-0 in District 6-5A going into the Week 11 headliner for Texas games to watch. Aledo enters with a 25-game winning streak as well as a state record of 73 consecutive district victories, a mark that spans 10 seasons.
A 52-23 victory over Eaton (Fort Worth) on Oct. 20 eclipsed the old record of 71 consecutive district victories by Westlake (Austin) from 1990-2002. Since then, Aledo has added two more to the ledger.

Chris Mehn (703 yards, six touchdowns). Junior
D.J. Harris is the tackles leader, averaging 11 per game. Trenton Kennedy is the leading Cy-Fair rusher with 943 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Jacksboro 9-0 at Holliday 8-1, 7 p.m. Friday
Both teams enter the showdown with 4-0 records in District 5-3A DII. First-year Jacksboro coach Brannon Rodgers has installed a powerful running attack that amassed 461 yards utilizing a host of ball carriers in last week's 56-20 tune-up victory over City View (Wichita Falls).
Ethan Fudge led with 76 yards and quarterback
Payton Laake threw for a season-high 166 yards. For Holliday, senior running back
Justin Jones has rushed for 1,314 and 24 touchdowns despite being held under 100 yards in its last two games.
Tanner Bayard leads the defense in sacks (12) and tackles per game (11.2).
Tenaha 9-0 at Timpson 8-1, 7 p.m. Friday
The District 11-2A DII title will be the reward for the teams with 4-0 league records.
C.J. Horn has thrown for 1,844 yards and 26 touchdowns to lead Tenaha.
Trai Gardner is his favorite target with 744 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns.
Tavoris Giles leads the visitors in tackles with 11.2 per game. Timpson is rolling in the second season under head coach Kerry Therwhanger with its first winning season since 2012. The Bears reached the playoffs a year ago, returning 17 starters from a 5-5 finish. Running back
Jordan Osby, quarterback
Jon Grogan and defensive lineman
Nictaeo Scourton are key returnees.
Huntsville 7-1 at Magnolia West 8-0, 7:30 p.m. Friday
The hosts are 6-0 in District 20-5A, one game ahead of 5-1 Huntsville.
Jaeryne Green rushed for 119 yards and
Jadun McCarty returned an interception for a 44-yard touchdown in Huntsville's 26-14 victory over Brenham last week. The Hornets had not beaten Brenham since 2008. Senior running back
Preston Deming is the top threat on the ground for Magnolia West, under the guidance of second-year head coach J.D. Berna. Junior
John Matocha is a dual threat quarterback.
Shiner 7-1 at Refugio 7-1, 7:30 p.m. Friday

Jacob Cowan led the offense with 84 rushing yards and two scores. Defending state champion Refugio was not able to play at its home stadium until Week 9 because of hurricane damage, but the team is rolling along as usual behind the passing of Jared Kelley.

Permian (Odessa) 7-1 at Midland Lee (Midland) 8-1, 7:30 p.m. Friday
Both are locked in a tie for second in District 2-6A with 4-1 records. Seems like old times with these rivals ending the regular season with a meaningful get-together. Reserve quarterback
Steve Steen sparked Permian to a 35-9 victory over rival Odessa last week with 17 carries for 73 yards and a touchdown. Lee depends on the running of junior
Josh Traylor (1,292 yards, 18 touchdowns) and the passing of senior
Colby Standard (1,659 yards, 15 touchdowns).
Port Neches-Groves (Port Neches) 8-0 at Nederland 6-2, 7 p.m. Friday
This annual grudge match is known as the "Bum Bowl'' because the late Texas coaching legend O.A. "Bum'' Phillips was a coach for a time at both schools. The two campuses are less than five miles apart. Port Neches-Groves is 7-0 in district play and has yet to be held under 40 points this season.
