Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Tamaqua Blue Raiders walked away with it. They walked away with a 39-31 victory over the Panthers on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Tamaqua also won the last time the pair played last Thursday.
Tamaqua got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kendle Miller out in front who scored seven points along with ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Leah Black, who scored eight points.
Despite the defeat, Panther Valley had strong showings from Maddison Maynard, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds, and Kaidence Krapf, who scored 11 points along with three steals. Natalie Vermillion was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Tamaqua has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. As for Panther Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-9.
Tamaqua is on the road again on Saturday and plays Minersville at 3:00 p.m. on February 10th. One thing working in Minersville's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches. Panther Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
