The 2021 high school football season in Nevada kicks off next week and MaxPreps has your look at the state's top teams. Coming off a 2-0 campaign in the spring, Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) owns the No. 1 spot in our preseason rankings.
The Gaels, No. 13 nationally in the MaxPreps Top 25 preseason rankings, boast eight of the top 25 senior prospects, according to 247Sports. That includes the top three players in the state: defensive end
Cyrus Moss, safety
Zion Branch and cornerback
Fabian Ross, a USC commit. Needless to say, Gorman will be tough to score on.
The perennial national power will be after its 18th state title and 12th since 2007. The Gaels had a streak of 10 straight crowns broken in 2019 by Liberty (Henderson), which is No. 2 in the state rankings. Liberty was one of 12 teams not to play a single game in 2020 due to the pandemic. The rest of the state played a minimal schedule, with no team playing more than five games.
Liberty is also blessed with a lot of talent as six Patriots are on the state's Top 25 prospects list, led by Washington-bound wide receiver
Germie Bernard.
