MaxPreps Top 25 high school football scores: No. 2 St. John Bosco faces No. 4 St. Frances Academy

This week is loaded with big matchups led by No. 2 St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) hosting No. 4 St. Frances Academy (Baltimore) on Friday. This is the MaxPreps Game of the Week and will be streamed for free on MaxPreps, the NFHS Network and the MaxPreps YouTube channel. 

Bosco vs. St. Frances features 76 players that have landed at least one FBS or FCS offer. Forty-six of those players are rated as a three-star recruit or higher. The Panthers are looking for their first win against a team from Southern California as they have gone 0-5 in past matchups, including a 37-14 loss to the Braves in 2023. 

No. 11 Mission Viejo (Calif.) welcomes five-star quarterback Ryder Lyons and Folsom (Calif.) to town Friday. Lyons has accounted for 875 yards of total offense and 12 touchdowns through two games. 

Ohio State-bound quarterback Luke Fahey threw for 375 yards and three scores in a 58-14 win over St. Paul (Santa Fe Springs) and that was without four-star wide receiver Vance Spafford, who is expected back this week after nursing an ankle injury. 

There are some big out-of-state matchups this week led by No. 3 Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) vs. Lone Peak (Highland, Utah), No. 5 Grayson (Loganville, Ga.) vs. Mallard Creek (Charlotte, N.C.), No. 14 Corner Canyon (Draper, Utah) vs. Liberty (Peoria, Ariz.), No. 16 Bergen Catholic (Oradell, N.J.) at West Boca Raton (Boca Raton, Fla.) and No. 23 Orange Lutheran (Orange, Calif.) at Basha (Chandler, Ariz.).

Dia Bell and No. 7 American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.) have a huge in-state showdown against Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood, Fla.) on Friday. The Patriots erased a 28-0 second half deficit against St. Joseph's Prep (Philadelphia) and pulled out a 31-28 win in their only game of the season. The Lions bounced back with a 28-14 win over McArthur (Hollywood, Fla.) after a 42-13 loss against St. Frances Academy. 

No. 8 Duncanville (Texas) gets underway this week and host a red-hot South Oak Cliff (Dallas) squad that is riding a ton of momentum after a 41-31 win over North Shore (Houston). This will be the seventh straight year these two face off and the Panthers have won the previous six meetings by an average margin of 33 points per game.
