Video: Top 10 Games of the WeekAquinas Institute (Rochester, N.Y.) at Canisius (Buffalo, N.Y.)
Saturday, 7 p.m. Eastern timeWhy it's big: One of two top matchups this weekend in the oft overlooked high school football state of New York. Aquinas Institute will be looking for its 10th win in its last 12 meetings with Canisius in this battle of unbeatens Saturday night.
Canisius is No. 1 in the latest Class AA state sportswriters rankings. The Crusaders' 6-0 record includes a win over a DePaul Catholic squad that was expected to contend in New Jersey's rigorous Big North United Conference.
Third-ranked Aquinas Institute has breezed to a 6-0 record with a 25-point average margin of victory. The Little Irish have allowed only 35 points over their last five games.
Names to watch: Aquinas senior quarterback
Jake Zembiec is rated New York's top prospect in the Class 2016 by 247Sports. The Penn State commit has thrown for 1,381 yards and 20 touchdowns with a sterling 139.8 QB rating this season. Senior linebackers
Jamir Jones, a Notre Dame commit, and
Taylor Riggins (committed to Syracuse) are also rated among the New York Top 10.
One of the top weapons on the Canisius roster is junior kicker
Blake Haubeil. The Ohio State pledge has converted only 3 of 8 field goal attempts this year, but his makes include a 61-yarder that was 1 yard shy of tying a state record.
