Aquinas is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Gahr 4-3. That's two games straight that the Falcons have won by just one run.

Chris Alzaga tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over 4.2 innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Orlando Oates, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
Meanwhile, Newport Harbor earned a 4-1 victory over Great Oak on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Sailors.
Gavin Guy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Newport Harbor's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Grant Horsley, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Horsley has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
Aquinas' record is now 21-9. As for Newport Harbor, their record now sits at an identical 21-9.
Aquinas' speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's matchup. The Falcons have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game.
