Jose Fernandez was a standout senior pitcher for Alonso in 2011. Just two years later, he is making his first MLB All-Star Game appearance.

The 2013 MLB All-Star Game is upon us, and there are plenty of interesting high school facts to note. Festivities begin at 8 p.m. Eastern at Citi Field in New York.
All-Stars from the same high schoolThe only two players from the same high school in this year's All-Star game are Domonic Brown of the Philadelphia Phillies and Brandon Phillips of the Cincinnati Reds. Both graduated from Redan (Stone Mountain, Ga.) and are now teammates on the NL squad. Brown was in the Class of 2006 and Phillips graduated in 1999, so the two never played together in high school.
States with the most All-StarsCalifornia high schools have produced the most 2013 All-Stars with eight, while Florida, Georgia and Texas are second with five All-Stars each.
