The Jacobs Eagles will take on the Palatine Pirates at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Jacobs is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Jacobs will bounce into Monday's matchup after beating St. Charles North, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the North Stars 4-3 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since May 1st.
Aaden Colon looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jace Koth, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last 13 games. Andrew Deegan also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, Palatine entered their tilt with Niles West on Saturday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They put the hurt on the Wolves with a sharp 13-7 win.
Nick Salata looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, Palatine got a massive performance out of Ben Ratajczak, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Maddux Heilman, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Jacobs' victory bumped their record up to 20-12. As for Palatine, their win bumped their record up to 21-13.
