The Rosamond Roadrunners came tearing into Thursday's match with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 38-29 victory over Desert. This was payback for Rosamond, who suffered a 50-40 loss the last time these two teams met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rosamond to victory, but perhaps none more so than Abigail Cardoza, who scored ten points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Rihanna Williams, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Desert lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Destiny Hart, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds. Hart is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games she's played. Keira Gamboa was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.
Rosamond's victory was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.2 points per game. As for Desert, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-6.
Rosamond will take on East Bakersfield at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully East Bakersfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Thursday. As for Desert, they will head out on the road to face off against Parlier at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Desert focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Thursday.
