High school football playoffs continue this weekend in the state of Florida with classes 1A-4A reaching the semifinal stage and 5A-8A in the regional finals. State championships for all classifications will be held Dec. 16-19 at Doak Walker Stadium – home of the Florida State Seminoles – in Tallahassee.
One of the two teams that entered unbeaten lost Friday night with Cocoa (10-1) dropping a 45-15 4A game to Cardinal Gibbons (7-1). Baker (14-0) had no trouble defeating Sneads 41-7 in 1A.
Perennial national power St. Thomas Aquinas (6-1) advanced in the 7A bracket with a 29-8 win over Venice (10-4). Other 7A winners were Niceville, Edgewater and Blooomingdale.
