It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the La Jolla Vikings ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They came out on top against Desert Christian Academy by a score of 48-41. The team ran away with 29 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the win.
La Jolla was led to victory by Drew Bennett and Reagan Bennett. Bennett dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Bennett scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Snider, who scored five points along with four steals.
Desert Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Hannah Shaver, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. Shaver has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Maddie Reedman, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for La Jolla and bumps their season record up to 11-9. As for Desert Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-6.
La Jolla will be playing at home against Canyon Hills at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Desert Christian Academy on the road again on Wednesday and play against Loma Linda Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 17th.
