California Top 25 Football rankings Watch previous No. 11 JSerra Catholic take down No. 12 Calabasas.
The changes were subtle in this week's MaxPreps California Top 25 high school football rankings, but two new teams entered after previous No. 20 Oaks Christian (Westlake Village) and No. 24 Buchanan (Clovis) sustained stunning and lopsided losses, respectively.
Oaks Christian (2-3) watched Murrieta Valley (Murrieta) rattle off three touchdowns in the final eight minutes to lose 39-38. The Lions could jump right back into Top 25 consideration with a win Friday at No. 22 Helix (La Mesa).
Buchanan trailed 35-0 in the first minute of the second quarter at No. 3 De La Salle (Concord) before the rest of the game went scoreless. The second half was played under a running clock.
Replacing those two teams are a pair of 3-0 West Catholic Athletic League teams from the Central Coast Section that both had byes last week, No. 24 Valley Christian (San Jose) and No. 25 Serra (San Mateo).
The biggest wins of the week came from No. 2 St. John Bosco (Bellflower) with a 42-10 victory at Hawaii power Mililani, No. 7 Narbonne (Harbor City) 28-21 winners over No. 9 Serra (Gardena) and No. 11 JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano) beating No. 12 Calabasas 31-20.
DJ Uiagalelei, the nation's top-rated quarterback and Clemson commit, threw for three touchdowns and ran for another to lead St. John Bosco.
Traeshon Holden had an 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and caught a 27-yard scoring toss from
Jacob Garcia to lift Narbonne to victory.
Quarterback
General Booty accounted for 330 yards and two touchdowns vaulting JSerra to the wire-to-wire win. Booty scored on a 75-yard run on the game's second play from scrimmage to set the tone.
Big showdowns this week are top-ranked Mater Dei (Santa Ana), coming off a bye, traveling to national power St. John's (Washington, D.C.), No. 17 Upland at No. 5 Mission Viejo and No. 21 Servite (Anaheim) at No. 19 Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks).
