The Cypress Centurions entered their tilt with the Kennedy Fighting Irish with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Cypress walked away with a 50-38 win over the Fighting Irish on Friday. 50 seems to be a good number for Cypress as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
It was another big night for Isabella Caceres, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Sara Shigekawa, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Kennedy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Riyin Stewart, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stewart has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Madeleine Hsu, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Cypress has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 14-11 record this season. As for Kennedy, they are on a 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-17.
Cypress will head out on the road to face off against the Saints at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Crean Lutheran is on a four-game streak of home wins, the Centurions a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Kennedy will take on the Mariners at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Pacifica presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Fighting Irish in California (the Mariners are ranked 283rd, while the Fighting Irish are ranked 637th).
