The North Tahoe Lakers waltzed into their contest on Saturday with nine straight wins but they left with ten. They breezed by Coral Academy of Science - Reno at home to the tune of 45-18. North Tahoe has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 21 points or more this season.
North Tahoe's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Makenna Alter, who scored nine points along with three steals. Alter has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Alana Hendricks, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Coral Academy of Science - Reno still got an impressive performance from Ashleen Kaur, who scored four points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Coral Academy of Science - Reno struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
North Tahoe's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2. As for Coral Academy of Science - Reno, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.
North Tahoe will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Sierra Lutheran at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Sierra Lutheran focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday. Coral Academy of Science - Reno will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Oasis Academy at 4:30 p.m. on January 22nd. Oasis Academy is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
