Redding Christian and Maxwell are an even 4-4 against one another since March of 2017, but likely not for long. The Lions will take on the Panthers on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Redding Christian sitting on four straight wins and Maxwell on seven.
Redding Christian is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over Loyalton.
Garrett Webb and Brodie Ogden made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Webb tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Meanwhile, Ogden didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Webb went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Ogden went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most doubles Ogden has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caleb Zick, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2025.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Maxwell challenged Weed on Tuesday. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Cougars. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Luka Benedet was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Wyatt Roach was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.
Maxwell hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive matchups.
Redding Christian's record now sits at 12-10. As for Maxwell, their record is now 21-7.
