MaxPreps crowned its first high school girls basketball national champion in 2009 after
Ben Davis (Indianapolis) capped a 30-0 season with a 71-69 win over four-time consecutive state finalist
South Bend Washington in Indiana's Class 4A championship game before almost 14,000 fans at Lucas Oil
Stadium. Since that time, over 200 schools in 41 states have etched their place
in history by earning a spot in the final MaxPreps Top 25 rankings. See
the complete list below.
Duncanville (Texas) and
Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) lead the way when it comes to MaxPreps Top 25 finishes with nine each in 17 years. The Pantherettes were crowned national champions in 2016 while the California power was the 2011 national champion.
Texas had three first-time entrants to move the Lone Star State past California with 22 different schools represented. California trails by one with 21. Florida (11),
Ohio (11), Georgia (10) and Maryland (10) are
the only other states with double digits.
