Baseball Recap: Franklin Takes a Loss

Franklin dropped down to 11-9 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 19-9 to the South East Jaguars. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 14-4 to the Jaguars when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for South East, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-21. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For South East's part, Anthony Santos made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Santos also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because South East is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 8-20 otherwise. Santos was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Frankie Leon was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Oscar Pena also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Franklin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for South East, they will face off against Roosevelt at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
