Kiski Area is 0-10 against Mars since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Kiski Area Cavaliers will head out on the road to face off against the Mars Fightin' Planets at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Monday, Kiski Area came up short against Hempfield Area and fell 53-44.
Meanwhile, Mars lost to Blackhawk on the road by a decisive 49-32 margin on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Mars has scored all season.
Mars' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Vita Vargo, who scored 18 points along with three steals, and Alexis Cashdollar who scored five points along with four steals and three blocks. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for her.
Mars struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Kiski Area's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Mars, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-2.
Kiski Area came up short against Mars in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 44-39. Can Kiski Area avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
