In what's become a running theme this season, the Elkhorn Valley Falcons gave their fans yet another huge victory on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 62-25 victory over Boyd County on the road. Given Elkhorn Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while Boyd County is ranked 228th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Elkhorn Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than JJ Black, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Black hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for six straight games. Karlee Broberg was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with two steals.
Boyd County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Paige Drueke, who scored six points along with five assists.
Elkhorn Valley has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Boyd County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.
Elkhorn Valley will take on Niobrara/Verdigre at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Niobrara/Verdigre is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. Boyd County will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on St. Mary's at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
