Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Independence to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kenadi Walton, who posted 11 points along with seven rebounds and seven blocks. Walton has been hot for a while, having posted two or more blocks the last nine times she's played. Amya Amey was another key player, putting up 11 points and five assists.
Independence was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Foothill only racked up four assists.
Foothill lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jayda Green, who put up four points and 12 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabel Garza, who had ten points and four steals.
The win got Independence back to even at 6-6. As for Foothill, they dropped their record down to 6-6 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Independence will take on Liberty at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Foothill, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 52-49 victory against Mira Monte on the 8th.
