Brylee Bartram picked a very good night to get the hot hand.
According to the
Tampa Bay Times, the
Seffner Christian (Seffner, Fla.) senior drilled six three-pointers in the first quarter than made a seventh early in the second quarter to break the national record for career 3s during an 81-30 home victory Thursday over Covenant Prep Christian.
Bartram, a Florida commit, finished off the night with three more 3s, giving her 10 in the game and 504 for her career. According to the
NFHS record book, she broke the mark of 500 set by Ashley Wirtzberger, of Gila Bend (Ariz.).
"It's taken a lot of hard work to get here," Bartram told the Tribune's Rodney Page. "And there's still a lot of hard work to do. I felt like tonight was going to be the night."
Bartram is 17 three-pointers away from breaking the national boys record of 520, set by Bjorn Broman of Deluth (Minn.).
She broke the national career record 23 seconds into the second quarter. Bartram averages a team-best 18.2 points per game for the 17-7 Crusaders.
