Baseball Recap: Mcclatchy Sets Scoring Season-High Against Kennedy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask McClatchy). They blew past the Kennedy Cougars 17-0 on Friday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Lions with their most commanding win of the season.

McClatchy let Dominic Brazelton and Carson Tozzi run wild. Brazelton got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Tozzi went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those runs marked the first that Tozzi has scored this season. Another player making a difference was Jace Martinez, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

The win (which was McClatchy's third in a row) raised their record to 8-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Kennedy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-9.

McClatchy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-5 win against Rocklin on the 14th. As for Kennedy, they will head out on the road to take on West Campus at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
