Basketball Recap: Wanhene Pete's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Elk Creek over Paradise Adventist Academy

After flying high against Non Varsity Opponent last Tuesday, Elk Creek came back down to earth. The Elk Creek Elks took a 37-25 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Paradise Adventist Academy Cougars on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Elks of the 41-26 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2018.

Elk Creek lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Wanhene Pete, who posted ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Serenity Mahone, who put up three points and ten rebounds.

Even though they lost, Elk Creek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Elk Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Paradise Adventist Academy, with the win, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-2.

Elk Creek will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Princeton at 5:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. After both having extra time off, Paradise Adventist Academy and Plumas Charter will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 4:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
