Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Chico + How To Watch

With a playoff win on the line, Chico rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Pleasant Valley Vikings. The victory was familiar territory for the Panthers, who have now won three contests in a row.

Vinny Boatwright tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Chico let Guiseppe Bianchi and Jorden Neugebauer run wild. Bianchi went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Neugebauer went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Bianchi has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanner Horn, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Chico's win bumped their record up to 21-8. As for Pleasant Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-9.

Chico does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pleasant Valley, they will square off against Foothill at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games the Cougars have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
