high school volleyball. America's source for high school sports
continues the tradition to close out the 2024 season by naming the
top player in each state.
Selections are based on team success and
individual excellence, in addition to local and state accolades.
Representing
the best from all 50 states and the District of Columbia, MaxPreps
Player of the Year honorees include state champions, All-Americans, those who stuffed the stat sheet and others who excelled within the team concept.

AlabamaThe North Alabama commit delivered for the Yellowjackets in an epic Class 7A final battle with Bob Jones, pounding 25 kills as McGill-Toolen won 15-13 in the final set. She finished the season with 599 serve receptions, 590 kills, 344 digs, 63 blocks and 50 aces for the 45-9 Yellowjackets.
Alaska
The Northern Lights Region MVP led the Warriors to back-to-back state titles, finishing this season with 442 kills. She led the team to the banner in the second championship game after falling in five sets in the first title tilt.
Arizona
The top-ranked player in the Class of 2025 and Nebraska commit led the 30-5 Huskies to a Class 5A title with 619 kills (5.9 per set) while hitting at 38 percent. She added 351 digs and 64 aces.
Arkansas
The junior dropped 21 kills against Bentonville to help Conway win a state title. Jones ended the season with 413 kills (4.0 per set) along with 184 serve receptions, 91 digs and 41 blocks.
California
The Yale commit put on a near-perfect run to the Open Division title that capped off a dominant season that saw her lead the Dons with 451 kills (3.8 per set). In the four state matches, the 6-3 Kordas pounded 71 kills with only 14 errors in 145 attempts, including 18 in a sweep of Archbishop Mitty in the finals.
Colorado
A multi-year MaxPreps All-American, the Georgia commit led the Eagles to their third straight state title and 28-1 finish. The Class 5A Player of the Year had 917 assists this season and finished her career with 3,089 assists.

Connecticut
Savannah Leone, DarienThe Blue Wave rolled to their third straight Class LL title and 20th overall as the senior setter came up huge with 40 assists and 27 digs in a five-set victory over Glastonbury. For the season, Leone had 706 assists and 209 digs as Darien went 25-2.
Delaware
Sophomore helped the 19-1 Hillers to a second title in three season. She finished the season with 580 assists and 159 digs in 20 matches, capping the season with 39 assists and 11 digs in the final.
District of Columbia
The Lafayette College commit led the Mighty Hoppers to the DCSAA title and a 24-1 mark, hammering a team-high 281 kills while hitting at 42 percent. In the state final, she dropped 16 kills while hitting 46 percent.
Florida
Maggie Dostic, Plant (Tampa)The Panthers came up short in five sets against Winter Park in the Class 7A final, but Dostic hammered 25 kills in the loss. She ended the season with 311 kills while hitting at 31 percent as Plant finished 22-2.
Georgia
Abigail Li, AlpharettaSMU commit led the Raiders to an unbeaten season and second straight Class AAAAAA title. She tossed up 937 assists (10.0 per set) and finished her career with 2,885 assists.
Hawaii
The Most Outstanding Player in the Division 1 tournament pounded 17 kills in a 3-1 win over 'Iolani as the Warriors went back-to-back and grabbed their 25th overall title. Chock finished her junior season with 516 kills (4.5 per set) along with 421 serve receptions, 348 digs and 62 blocks.
Idaho
Bellamie Beus, Skyview (Nampa, Idaho)Junior had 595 kills as the Hawks went 27-8 against a national schedule. A Kentucky commit, she had 30 kills in the state title game.
Illinois
The senior libero is headed to Purdue after leading the Redwings to a 40-2 record, runner-up finish in the Class 4A postseason and a No. 10 finish in the MaxPreps Top 25. She had 310 digs on the season as Benet only had three matches go to three sets. She finished her career with 1,649 digs.
Indiana
Logan Bell, Roncalli (Indianapolis, Ind.)Headed to Oregon, the Miss Indiana Volleyball finalist led the Royals to an unbeaten season and Class 3A title. She finished with 333 kills on 35 percent hitting along with 284 serve receptions, 252 digs and 63 aces.
Iowa
She hammered 559 kills for the 44-4 Mustangs to cap her senior season with a Class 3A title. Headed to Louisville, she added 232 digs and 63 aces for Mt. Vernon and earned Class 3A all-tournament honors.
Kansas
The repeat MaxPreps All-American led the Thunder to a 32-7 mark and third-place finish in Class 5A. The all-around talent is a two-sport standout committed to USC volleyball and had a team-high 337 kills and 649 assists.
Kentucky
Kristen Simon, Assumption (Louisville)All over the court as a libero, she was the defensive captain as the Rockets captured their 24th state title. The Wisconsin commit had a team-high 466 serve receptions and 464 digs as Assumption went 35-8.

LouisianaSecond in the state in assists, she led the Tigers (40-4) to the Division I title, the program's seventh. Labat had 1,302 assists (12.5 per set) and dished up 42 in the four-set win over St. Mary's Dominican in the title match. She fed a quartet of hitters this season who finished with more than 220 kills.
Maine
The sophomore was the catalyst for a second-straight Class A title for the Rams. After losing 10 seniors to graduation, Edwards served up 240 assists with 97 kills as Gorham went 13-4.
Maryland
The 6-foot all-purpose player notched her 800th kill in the Rockets' Class 4A victory, the program's second straight title. She pounded 247 kills this season along with 287 assists as Richard Montgomery finished 24-1 with the state banner.
Massachusetts
The senior led the Tigers to a 27-1 record and third straight Division 1 title. She had a team-high 13 kills in the championship match and led Newton North with 222 kills on the season.
Michigan
The 2024 Miss Michigan Volleyball helped the Marlins to a 29-3 mark
while posting 730 assists along with 188 digs, 131 kills and 52 blocks.
Minnesota
The Minnesota commit pounded 511 kills for the Class 4A runner-up Rebels. The 6-foot-2 right side is a six-rotation standout and the top-ranked player in the state. She added 403 serve receptions, 343 digs, 42 aces and 39 blocks as Champlin Park went 29-4.
Mississippi
The 38-6 season culminated in a state title for the North Florida commit. She had 513 kills (4.4 per set) for the Patriots, including 11 in the title match win over Jackson Academy (Jackson).
Missouri
Headed to Vanderbilt, the daughter of former NFL linebacker Will Witherspoon led the Lancers to a Class 5A title. She dropped 440 kills in her senior season as Lafayette went 32-5. She finished her prep career with 1,466 kills.
Montana
The Kansas State commit led her squad to a 27-4 mark and Class AA title while compiling more than 650 kills over her three varsity seasons. She willed the Raptors to a five-set winner-take-all match over Bozeman in the state tournament after the Hawks had beaten them in the first championship match.
Nebraska
The all-around talent had a team-best 610 assists along with 307 kills as the Titans went 34-5 and grabbed the Class A title, the school's seventh overall. The Jackson State commit ends her career with 1,798 assists and 595 kills.

NevadaJunior hammered 705 kills for the Class 5A champion Gaels. She averaged 7.3 kills per set and hit at an outstanding 55 percent. She added 386 digs, 385 serve receptions, 44 aces and 40 blocks as Gorman went 29-8.
New Hampshire
The 6-foot-2 hitter and Boston University commit hammered 161 kills with 65 digs and 19 blocks as the Bulldogs went 21-0 and grabbed the Division 1 title.
New Jersey
The senior hitter paced the Blue Eagles all season long with 212 kills while hitting 38 percent as the program grabbed its 19th title, tied for tops in state history. She pounded eight kills in the state final. For the season, she also had 236 assists, 122 digs and 41 aces.
New Mexico
Junior led the Bulldawgs to a 27-0 season capped with a second straight Class 5A title. She finished the season with 516 kills along with 267 serve receptions and 236 digs.
New York
The Hawaii beach volleyball commit led the 34-3 Red Raiders to their second Class AAA title with 33 kills in the championship win over Shenendowa. She finished the season with 299 kills on 39 percent hitting.
North Carolina
The Texas commit piled up 578 assists as the Crusaders went 22-0 and won the Class 4A title.
North Dakota
The state's Outstanding Senior Athlete of the Year helped the Mustangs to a 34-4 record and runner-up finish in the Class A postseason.
Ohio
The UCLA commit led the Saints to a 26-2 record and Division I title. The libero had 377 digs, including 29 in the four-set title win, and was a first-team All-State pick by the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association.
Oklahoma
The Washington State commit led the Rockets (39-1) to a third state title in four seasons with 1,164 assists (11.0 per set). She added 345 digs and 134 kills.
Oregon
The Arizona commit is top-ranked player in the state and ended her career with a school record 1,823 kills. In a four-set state final loss to Jesuit, Thies hammered a team-high 17 kills.
Pennsylvania
Sophomore led the team with 391 kills while adding 250 digs as North Allegheny went 21-1 and won a Class 4A title.
Rhode Island
Led the Skippers with 259 kills as they went 20-0 and won the Division 1 title in a five-set thriller. It was North Kingstown's third straight title and the seventh in the past eight seasons.
South Carolina
The Auburn commit hammered 27 kills in a four-set state title victory over Wando to bring home the school's 16th championship. Shugart finished the season with a team-high 464 kills (4.7 per set), 274 serve receptions and 261 digs.
South Dakota
The University of South Dakota commit helped the Tigers to an unbeaten season and No. 16 finish in the final MaxPreps Top 25. She had 403 kills, 221 digs and 185 serve receptions as Harrisburg went 31-0.
Tennessee
The Western Kentucky commit had 24 kills and 18 digs in a four-set Class AAA final win over Brentwood. The senior finished the year with 532 serve receptions, 487 kills, 288 digs, 49 blocks and 47 aces. She ended her career with 1,735 kills.
Texas
Spears has won four state titles in high school, three at Prestonwood Christian and one as a freshman in Virginia. The Texas commit is one of the most ferocious hitters in the game, ending the season with 649 kills as Prestonwood Christian went 37-2 and completed the TAPPS Class 6A three-peat.
Utah
Sophomore helped the Knights (29-3) win their fifth-straight state title with 192 kills (3.7 per set) along with 152 digs and 21 aces. The Deseret News Class 5A Player of the Year had 24, 22 and 20 kills in the three playoff matches.
Vermont
The state volleyball coaches association named the senior libero the defensive POY after leading the Hornets to an 18-0-2 record and state title while sweeping through the postseason.
Virginia
The Kansas State commit led the Titans to their second straight Class 3A title, pounding 550 kills along with 485 serve receptions and 341 digs. She ends her prep career with 2, 285 kills.
Washington
A University of San Diego commit, she hammered 746 kills this season as the Vikings went 29-7-1 and reached the Class 4A semifinals. She finished her career with 1,718 kills.
West Virginia
The senior posted 681 kills for the season, ending her Applemen career with 1,985. She led Musselman to a 31-13 record this season while adding 591 serve receptions and 288 digs.
Wisconsin
A four-time, first-team All-State selection, the Wisconsin commit led the Dashers to a third straight Division 1 title, 47-1 record and No. 5 finish in the MaxPreps Top 25. Quest had 504 kills (4.3 per set) while hitting 37 percent this season. She ended her career with 1,926 kills.
Wyoming
The junior led the Plainsmen (32-2) with 382 kills, 295 serve receptions, 289 digs and 60 aces. She was named the Class 4A MVP as Laramie fell to Kelly Walsh in the state final.
