The Bakersfield Drillers lost against the Independence Falcons back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Bakersfield took a 60-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Independence. Bakersfield has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Leading Independence to victory were Ka'Rayah Robertson and Kaylynn Bolden. Robertson dropped a double-double on 11 points and 19 rebounds, while Bolden dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Robertson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Josslyn Escobar, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Bakersfield bumped their record down to 1-7 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Independence, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-9.
Bakersfield will head out on the road to face off against Highland at 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Highland comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Independence, they will be playing at home against Ridgeview at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Ridgeview is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
