Softball Recap: Gering Now 9-1 over Last Ten Games

Fans were treated to a battle of the Bulldogs on Saturday. Gering blew past Alliance 20-1. Considering Gering has won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Danae Savala made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other pitching news, Libby Baum looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Jacelyn Brown, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, eight RBI, and two runs. Those eight RBI gave her a new career-high. Rylee Luce was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Gering kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Alliance only managed one hit.

Gering is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Alliance, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-13.

Gering wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 7-5 loss against Seward on the 20th. As for Alliance, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-11 victory against Chadron on the 20th.
