The Frazier Commodores suffered their biggest loss since December 11, 2023 on Saturday. They were beaten by Clairton 63-27. While losing is never fun, Frazier can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 540th, while Clairton is ranked 229th).
Frazier lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Allie Yauch, who scored seven points along with two steals. Yauch hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Malana Burton was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds.
Iyanna Wade continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Clairton, scoring 43 points. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which Wade has scored at least a third of Clairton's points. The team also got some help courtesy of J Childs, who scored ten points.
Frazier has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Clairton, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.
Frazier will be playing in front of their home fans against California at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Clairton, they will head out on the road to challenge Winchester Thurston at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
