This week's high school football schedule in Texas is highlighted by
Westlake (Austin) trying to bounce back from a rare home loss and
Longview taking on a defending state champion from Louisiana.
In the only head-to-head matchup between statewide top 25 teams (according to the MaxPreps computer rankings), Westlake heads to unbeaten
Cibolo Steele on Friday.
Westlake saw its 44-game home win streak end last week against Atascocita but the rebound attempt will be a battle. Steele is 3-0 and averaging 55.6 points per game behind quarterback
Chad Warner, running back
Jonathan Hatton and talented wide receivers
Royal Capell and
Jalen Cooper.
In another intriguing matchup, Longview (2-1) will play host to defending Louisiana state champ
Ruston, which has won 16 games in a row.
Finally, keep an eye on No. 5
Southlake Carroll at
Euless Trinity. The host Trojans have piled up 167 points in their first three games and could take a huge step toward winning a district crown with an upset victory here.
