Even though the Williams Valley Vikings have not done well against Marian Catholic recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Williams Valley came out on top against Marian Catholic by a score of 42-29. The victory was all the more spectacular given Williams Valley's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 285th, while Marian Catholic is ranked 98th).
Addison Fritz and Carly Minchhoff certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Fritz scored 13 points along with two steals, while Minchhoff scored 12 points along with five rebounds and three blocks. Fritz has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played.
Williams Valley has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Marian Catholic, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Williams Valley the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Tri-Valley at 6:00 p.m. on January 29th. Tri-Valley comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Marian Catholic, they will be playing at home against Shenandoah Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
