Manteno is 9-1 against Beecher since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Panthers will square off against the Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. Manteno is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
Manteno is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Bradley-Bourbonnais just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 8-3 to the Boilermakers.
Manteno got a good showing from Josh Melia, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Melia has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Gio Arrigo and Braden Campbell did some serious damage despite the final result: Arrigo went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI, while Campbell went 2-for-4 with one home run. That home run marked the first that Campbell has launched this season.
Meanwhile, Beecher entered their tilt with Momence on Thursday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over the Momence Athletics.
Brady Cain tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Santino Imhof, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Maher, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
Beecher kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive contests.
Manteno's defeat dropped their record down to 17-8. As for Beecher, their record is now 19-8.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Manteno hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like Beecher struggles in that department as they've averaged .335. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Manteno got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 against Beecher by a conclusive 8-1 score. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bobcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
