Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) finished its season with a 37-15 win over No. 21
De La Salle (Concord, Calif.)
on Saturday in the CIF Open Division state championship at Saddleback
College. It was the Monarchs fifth state title since 2017 and their ninth win against a MaxPreps Top 25 opponent on the season.
Washington-bound quarterback
Dash Beierly threw for over 300 yards and three touchdowns, while Oregon-bound running back
Jordon Davison added two rushing scores.
The Monarchs went into halftime with a 23-0 lead but the Spartans scored 15 unanswered points in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 23-15 with 4:20 left after
Toa Faavae scored his second rushing touchdown of the night.
Mater Dei put together a 92-yard drive capped off with a 15-yard touchdown run from Davison to make it a two score game. Beierly connected with
Mark Bowman for a 31-yard score later in the fourth to seal the win and most likely a third MaxPreps National Championship for the Monarchs.
After the Mustangs took an early 3-0 lead, the Chaparrals responded by scoring 21 unanswered points. North Shore cut the deficit to 21-10 right before halftime. Westlake outscored North Shore 14-0 in the second half and clinched its first state championship berth since 2021.
North Crowley snapped No. 3
Duncanville's (Texas) 16-game playoff win streak with a 36-34 victory and became the first team to beat
Keelon Russell in the postseason. They used a well-balanced attack as
Cornelius Warren III carried the ball 42 times for 178 yards and a touchdown. He added two catches for 45 yards and another score.
Chris Jimerson completed 11 of 17 passes for 185 yards and four touchdowns. Colorado-bound wideout
Quentin Gibson had five receptions for 107 yards and two touchdowns, giving him 33 receiving scores on the season.
Russell completed 18 of 27 passes for 303 yards and two touchdowns in his final high school game. He added six carries for 66 yards and another score. Five-star wideout
Dakorien Moore had seven grabs for 138 yards and a score.
Brandon connected with
Kaden Catoe for three touchdowns and
Mitchell Summers sealed the win with two scores on the ground in the fourth quarter. Grimsley will face
Rolesville (N.C.) in the 4A state championship next Friday at Kenan Stadium.
Florida signee
Byron Louis added 221 yards on the ground and two touchdowns. The Tigers'
Dereon Coleman rushed for 138 yards and three scores.
St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) won its sixth straight state title handing No. 13
Lakeland (Fla.) its first loss of the season with a one-sided 34-0 win. The defense dominated and
Chance Washington
carried the weight on offense finishing with 12 carries for 70 yards
and two scores. Expect the Raiders to jump back in the MaxPreps Top 25
next week as they were ranked at No. 29 in our expanded top 100.

Venice added its fourth state title in school history and first since 2021 with a 52-19 win over
Lake Mary in the 7A state championship on Saturday.
Winston Watkins Jr. and
Gata Wilder both had three touchdowns each for the Indians.
