It's a public relations stunt for the Globetrotters, who have also drafted Everton FC goalkeeper Tim Howard, Lionel Messi, Usain Bolt, Brittney Griner, Mariano Rivera and Johnny Manziel in the past. None have donned the red, white and blue for the traveling team of basketball entertainers.
Davis burst onto the national scene last summer after becoming the first girl to pitch a shutout and earn a victory at the Little League World Series.
Her exploits earned her a spot on the cover of Sports Illustrated and mentions in nearly every major national media outlet.
Davis took the next step in her athletic career during the winter, playing varsity basketball as an eighth-grader for Springside Chestnut Hill Academy.
According to the
Globetrotters' official site, they are exercising a "Future Discovery Clause" to obtain the rights to Davis when she graduates from college.
