The Carter Lions are taking a road trip to take on the Arroyo Knights at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Carter will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Carter is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Adelanto 10-1. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.
Keith Lockhart was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Angel Acevedo, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Raul Rodarte, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Carter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Miller typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Arroyo proved too difficult a challenge. They won by a run and slipped past the Rebels 2-1. That's two games straight that the Knights have won by just one run.
Oscar Lopez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Arroyo secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Riley MacMillan, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Carter's record now sits at 16-12. As for Arroyo, their record is now 15-8.
