The biggest high school football game of the week lived up to the hype as No. 10 Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood, Fla.) pulled out a 42-34 win over No. 13 American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.). Junior running back
Davion Gause rushed for 200-plus yards and three touchdowns to give the Lions their second win over a MaxPreps Top 25 opponent. All four of the Lions wins have come against teams in our expanded
top 100 list.
Five-star wide receiver

No. 1 St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) was the last MaxPreps Top 25 team to play this weekend and beat Hawaii's top-ranked team Kahuku 34-7 on Saturday. The Braves improved to 4-0 and have outscored their first four opponents 177-28. Three-star junior running back
Cameron Jones rushed for nearly 100 yards and two scores. Up next for the top-ranked team in the country is Central Catholic (Modesto) on Sept. 23 at Panish Family Stadium.
Caleb Downs
and No. 25 Mill Creek (Hoschton, Ga.) improved to 4-0 with a 52-36 win over Cedar Grove (Ellenwood). It was the first loss of the season for the defending AAA state champs and Downs dominated on all three phases of the game.
The lone MaxPreps Top 25 team to lose to an unranked opponent was No. 19 St. Edward (Lakewood, Ohio) who lost 31-28 against Washington (Massillon, Ohio). It snapped the defending Division 1 state champs 11-game win streak and will make room for a new team to join the national rankings next week.
No. 3 St. Frances Academy (Baltimore) traveled to Florida to take on the defending 8A state champs, Venice (Fla.), and cruised to a 34-17 win on ESPN2 on Thursday. The Panthers rushed for 300-plus yards. Recent Boston College commit
