The Canyon Springs Cougars will face off against the Foothill Tech Dragons at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Canyon Springs is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Canyon Springs is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Ramona a 3-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but the Cougars sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Ethan Czerny tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Canyon Springs' victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Felix, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Xavier Ramirez was another, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Foothill Tech sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Bloomington on Thursday.
Shane White made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. White was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other pitching news, Connor Nelles looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Foothill Tech is 7-3 when he allows at most two walks, but 8-9 otherwise.
Back at the plate, Cooper Casey was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Davin Arth, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Foothill Tech's victory bumped their record up to 15-12. As for Canyon Springs, their win bumped their record up to 19-7.
