Prairie View hasn't had much luck against Brighton recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Thunderhawks will head out on the road to challenge the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Prairie View will be strutting in after a win while Brighton will be coming in after a defeat.
Prairie View had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt Boulder on Saturday. The Thunderhawks put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 18-2 victory. The game marked the Thunderhawks' most dominant win of the season.

Viviana Saucedo was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and only one walk). Saucedo was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Shelby Ortiz was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. She also put up a stolen base, which was her first of the season. Aliciana Saucedo was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Prairie View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Brighton was a bit more limited in their matchup on Monday. They came up short against Riverdale Ridge, falling 7-0. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Ravens recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Prairie View is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-12 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Brighton, their loss dropped their record down to 13-7.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Prairie View has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .436. However, it's not like Brighton struggles in that department as they've averaged .436. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Prairie View couldn't quite finish off Brighton in their previous meeting back in September and fell 7-5. Can the Thunderhawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
