The high school football season in New Mexico came to a close over the weekend.
Cleveland (Rio Rancho) was among the winners, beating
La Cueva (Albuquerque) 75-61 in the Class 6A state championship game. That victory helped propel the Storm to the No. 1 ranking in the final state MaxPreps Top 25.

Harris Mbueha and
Josh Perry combined to run for 455 yards and nine touchdowns in the win over La Cueva, which finished No. 2 in the state. The 75 points are the most in a New Mexico state championship game since 1959.
Class 5A champion
Artesia finished No. 6 in the state after beating No. 7
Piedra Vista (Farmington) 27-14. The Bulldogs capped an 11-2 season to win their first state title since 2017.
