The high school football season in Michigan came to a close over the weekend.
De La Salle Collegiate (Warren) was among the victors with an emphatic 41-14 win over Traverse City Central at Ford Field in Detroit to claim the Division 2 championship. That victory helped propel the Pilots to the No. 1 ranking in the final Michigan MaxPreps Top 25.
De La Salle Collegiate not only finished 13-0 but the Pilots outscored opponents by a 517-199 count, including a 225-62 count in the playoffs. They were utterly consistent and dominant by winning by scores of 44-0, 35-20, 45-14, 49-14 and 41-14.
In the championship game, quarterback
Brady Drogosh accounted for 316 yards and four touchdowns as the Pilots raced to a 34-0 halftime lead wand was never threatened. It was the program's fourth state title and first since 2018. It was the fifth title for coach Dan Rohn, the previous four with West Catholic (Grand Rapids).
Of the last five seasons, the Pilots have gone 49-14. This was the first season under Rohn.
