Senaya Parker of
Samuel Fels (Philadelphia) and
Nicole Melious of
Wagner (Staten Island, N.Y.) participated in possibly the closest national scoring race in high school girls basketball history this year with Parker edging Melious in scoring average, 43.1 to 43.0.
So how close were Parker and Melious? Consider that if Melious had made one more 3-point basket, she would have edged Parker 43.115 to 43.105 for the national scoring title. So it shouldn't be any surprise that both Parker and Melious top the list of players with the most 50-point games this year.
Parker had the most 50-point games. She had seven with a high total of 59 points. Melious was second with four 50-point games with a high of 60.
Neither had the highest scoring total of the season, however. That honor went to
Ari Long of
