Crete-Monee extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 14-14. They came up short against Lincoln-Way West, falling 10-0. If Crete-Monee was looking for revenge after losing 10-0 to Lincoln-Way West when the teams met back in May of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Lincoln-Way West, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games.
For Lincoln-Way West's part, Luke Stoner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Stoner was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.
In other pitching news, Luke Gouty looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).
Back at the plate, Lincoln-Way West let Jackson Mansker and Matt Staniszewski run wild. Mansker went 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Staniszewski went 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Staniszewski also scored a run, marking his first of the season. Owen Weber was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Crete-Monee will welcome Thornridge at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.47 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lincoln-Way West, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Normal Community at 5:00 p.m. The Ironmen's pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so the Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
