The Cumberland Pirates will square off against the Lawrenceville Indians at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Thursday, Cumberland made easy work of Brownstown/St. Elmo and carried off an 11-1 win. Considering the Pirates have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Maddox Miller made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Cumberland is undefeated when Miller allows one or fewer hits, but 7-13 otherwise. Miller was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Meanwhile, Lawrenceville was not able to break out of their rough patch last Thursday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They took a 15-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of Red Hill. Indians fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Salukis since last Thursday.
Cumberland is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-13 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.2 runs over those games. As for Lawrenceville, their loss dropped their record down to 2-16.
Cumberland couldn't quite get it done against Lawrenceville in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 as they fell 4-1. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
