Gateway had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-12 to make it seven. They came up short against The Bay School Breakers, falling 15-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Breakers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-0 on Tuesday.
Casey Volker was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Tristan Sullivan was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
As for The Bay School, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games.
On The Bay School's side, Nate Won made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Won has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jasper Cook, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Terje Steele, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Gateway does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for The Bay School, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-6 loss against Drew on the 13th.
