Steeleville has gone a perfect 6-0 against Chester recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Warriors will head out to challenge the Yellowjackets at 4:30 p.m. Steeleville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Steeleville fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Red Bud on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Musketeers by a score of 4-3. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Colin Vallett was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Chester made easy work of Hillsboro on Wednesday and carried off a 15-1 win.
Trayton Peters was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Chester: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 9-13 otherwise.
In other batting news, Rusty Korando was incredible, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Chester is undefeated when Korando posts three or more RBI, but 9-13 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kale Sprengel, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Chester kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 7-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
Chester's record now sits at 12-13. As for Steeleville, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.
Steeleville came out on top in a nail-biter against Chester in their previous matchup on May 2nd, sneaking past 7-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
