Video: Alex Huston's highlights vs. Branson
See the Glendale quarterback throw for 563 yards and eight touchdowns.
For the second time in two years, Zach Davis of Sheehan (Wallingford, Conn.) has gone over 500 yards rushing in a game.
As a junior, Davis doubled his season output by rushing for 520 yards on 52 carries with eight touchdowns in the season finale against Lyman Hall. The effort gave Davis 994 yards rushing on the season.
This year, Davis has been much more of a workhorse as he had over 2,000 yards rushing on the season heading into a game against Law (Milford, Conn.). Davis broke a pair of state records in the 66-20 win, gaining 541 yards on 41 carries with 10 touchdowns. The 541 yards breaks the previous record of 526 by Jeremiah Crowley of Montville. The 10 touchdowns breaks the record of nine by Brendan Lytton of Torrington.
Davis's effort highlights this week's list of national high school football stat stars.
Meanwhile Alex Huston of Glendale (Springfield, Mo.) had the top passing effort of the week with 584 yards and eight touchdowns in a playoff win over Branson. Huston now has over 5,000 yards passing on the season (5,084). He becomes just the sixth quarterback in national history to throw for over 5,000 yards in two different seasons.
