Lyons is 1-9 against Heritage Christian since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Lyons Lions will head out on the road to square off against the Heritage Christian Eagles at 8:00 p.m. Lyons knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Heritage Christian likes a good challenge.
Lyons is headed into the match having just suffered their closest loss since January 19, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of SkyView Academy by a score of 68-65. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (57), the Lions still had to take the loss.

Lyons' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Caleb Christiansen, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 14 points along with six steals and five boards, and Zeke Paznokas, who went 7 for 12 en route to 17 points and six rebounds. Christiansen is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jake LaCrosse, who went 5 of 11 en route to 10 points and five boards.
Even though they lost, Lyons smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Heritage Christian was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Denver Academy 79-44. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 20 points or more this season.
Lyons better keep an eye on Alec Lundy. He was instrumental in Heritage Christian's win, putting up 35 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Lundy has scored at least a third of Heritage Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of David Kubie, who posted 16 points.
Heritage Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34.3 points. As for Lyons, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-5.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Lyons and Heritage Christian are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Lyons hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 63.7 points per game. However, it's not like Heritage Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 63.5 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Lyons was dealt a bruising 77-37 defeat at the hands of Heritage Christian in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Thankfully for Lyons, Raul Bertinato (who dropped a double-double on 29 points and ten rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
