Heritage Christian has won five straight games at home, while Lyons has won five straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Heritage Christian Eagles will host the Lyons Lions at 8:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Heritage Christian was fully in charge, breezing past Denver Academy 79-44. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 20 points or more this season.
Alec Lundy continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 35 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Heritage Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of David Kubie, who posted 16 points.
Meanwhile, Lyons unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of SkyView Academy by a score of 68-65. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (57), the Lions still had to take the loss.
Heritage Christian will have to keep a close watch on Caleb Christiansen and Zeke Paznokas, a pair of players who had a big impact on Lyons' prior game. Christiansen went 6 for 11 on his way to 14 points in addition to six steals and five boards, while Paznokas went 7 of 12 en route to 17 points and six rebounds. Christiansen is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Jake LaCrosse was another key player, going 5 for 11 on his way to 10 points and five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Lyons smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive games.
Heritage Christian is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34.3 points. As for Lyons, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-5.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Heritage Christian and Lyons are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Heritage Christian hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 63.5 points per game. However, it's not like Lyons struggles in that department as they've been averaging 63.7 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Everything came up roses for Heritage Christian against Lyons in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 77-37 victory. In that contest, Heritage Christian amassed a halftime lead of 47-20, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
