The Mar Vista Mariners are taking a road trip to square off against the Central Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mar Vista has eight straight wins, Central has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

JAKE LESLIE spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Mar Vista got a big performance out of KAI LANDRY, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave LANDRY a new career-high. JAYDEN FORREST-CAYETANO was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Central might've scored the first runs on Thursday, but it was Palo Verde Valley who claimed the real prize. The Spartans fell just short of the Yellow Jackets by a score of 6-5.
Freddy Terrazas put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has become a key player for Central: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-16-1 otherwise. Terrazas was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Terrazas wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was David Madero, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Mar Vista's victory bumped their record up to 17-12. As for Central, their loss dropped their record down to 9-17-1.
Mar Vista couldn't quite finish off Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2022 and fell 5-3. Can the Mariners avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
