No. 3 St. Frances Academy (Baltimore) pulled off a comeback win against the top-ranked team in Hawaii — 
Kahuku. The third-ranked Panthers trailed 15-7 in the final eight minutes but four-star LSU commit

 returned a fumble for a 79-yard score to cut the deficit to 15-14. 
After a personal foul penalty on St. Frances Academy they missed a 
two-point attempt. The Panthers defense got a stop and drove down the 
field and

 for the game-winning score with :39 remaining. St. Frances Academy 
forced a turnover on downs to improve to 5-0. They have traveled over 
8,400 miles this season and won in Ohio, Texas, Florida, South Carolina 
and Hawaii. 
No. 1 St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) and No. 2 
Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) both won setting up the biggest high 
school football game of the year on Oct. 7 at Santa Ana Bowl. The Braves beat Servite 
(Anaheim) 49-3 and have outscored their first six opponents 291-31. The 
Monarchs were in a much tighter game but pulled out a 21-13 win over 
JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano) to win their 23rd consecutive 
game.
The only MaxPreps Top 25 matchup of the week featured No. 25 Cardinal Gibbons (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) hosting No. 13 American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.) on Saturday. The Patriots improved to 5-1 with a 21-2 win. Five-star Ohio State commit 
Brandon Inniss had a touchdown reception and an interception. Senior quarterback 
Blake Murphy and 2023 Ohio State pledge 
Mark Fletcher both added rushing scores as they handed the Chiefs their first loss of the season.
No. 18 Mill Creek (Hoschton, Ga.) beat Central Gwinnett (Lawrenceville) 58-7. The Hawks are off to a 6-0 start and five-star safety 
Caleb Downs has emerged as one of the front runners for the 2022 MaxPreps National Football Player of the Year award.   
No. 7 Buford (Ga.) is the only team ranked ahead of Mill Creek in the Peach State and they cruised to a 23-3 win over Collins Hill (Suwanee) on ESPN2. 
Justice Haynes rushed for 130 yards and two scores and is in the mix for National Player of the Year honors too. Him and Downs are both 2023 Alabama commits.  
A huge Ohio matchup took place at Nippert Stadium (University of Cincinnati) and No. 19 Archbishop Moeller (Cincinnati) beat Elder (Cincinnati) 42-14 to improve to 7-0. This is the best start the Fighting Crusaders have had since 2013 when they won their last state title.
