There's no place like home for the Carson Colts, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road two weeks ago. They walked away with a 41-30 victory over Banning on Wednesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Carson also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Carson's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sydney Jackson, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Jackson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Robyn Raphiel, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Banning still got an impressive performance from Sara Gonzales, who scored 12 points.
Banning struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Carson's win bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Banning, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carson will square off against Rancho Dominguez at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Rancho Dominguez will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 966th, while Carson is ranked 482nd). As for Banning, they will head out on the road to take on Narbonne at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Narbonne has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-2 during that stretch of close contests.
